Recognizing the urgent need for an automated, power-aware design infrastructure, industry leaders are collaborating through the Power Forward Initiative to drive advanced low-power design. Participants have participated in refinement of the Common Power Format enabling its contribution to Si2 and its subsequent ratification as Si2 standard in March 2007. The Common Power Format specification language captures power-specific design intent, such as multi-supply voltage and power shutoff, holistically in a single file. No longer constrained by power barriers that result in low yield or costly re-spins, mutual customers can focus their time and resources on what matters most—innovation.
